Building the Future of Internal Communications

Communicating a new strategy to a global workforce is never easy. The challenge was to not just launch a new strategy, but also re-motivate and energise employees around the next stage of the company’s journey. Employees often disengage from static documents and presentations, making it difficult to align them with company goals. Bupa wanted Savannah27 to be different; an experience that would enhance their employee experience and actively engage staff in their workplaces and homes. The solution needed to be immersive, interactive, and accessible, ensuring participation across 100,000 employees worldwide.
We designed an interactive AR experience that brought Bupa’s strategy to life through spatial storytelling. Employees became active participants, engaging with Savannah27 in a way that was surprising, meaningful, and aligned with Bupa’s core messaging.
The experience opens with a personalised hologram message from the CEO, welcoming employees into the world of Savannah27. AR portals transport users to an African savannah, visually reinforcing the campaign theme. Cracks and footprints appear on the floor, as if an elephant has stepped into the room, while birds fly overhead, adding movement and atmosphere. Every element was crafted to create a seamless, immersive experience that aligns with the strategy and fits into employees’ workplaces and daily routines.
Beyond AR, we built an interactive quiz to reinforce key messages, and promoted a competition to drive participation. A dedicated mobile-friendly website provided seamless access from any employee device, increasing accessibility for the unwired workforce. With six language options across copy and video elements, the experience preserved the CEO's own tone of voice, ensuring a unified global message rather than making translations feel like an afterthought.

The results exceeded Bupa’s KPI targets and proved that immersive technology and digital transformation can redefine internal communications and workplace engagement:
- 99% positive feedback, showing employees were fully engaged
- 80% average quiz scores, proving strong retention of key messages
- Successful global rollout, demonstrating that AR can be a practical tool for corporate engagement
Strategy does not live in a PDF. It is most effective when it is felt, seen, and experienced. With Savannah27, Bupa used spatial storytelling and immersive design to connect employees with their vision in a way that was memorable, interactive, and built for the future.
Savannah27 remains accessible to Bupa’s employees, providing ongoing engagement beyond the initial launch. Unlike traditional campaign-based initiatives, this interactive AR experience continues to reinforce company strategy, making it a sustainable tool for internal communications.
This experience demonstrated the potential of enterprise AR to engage employees at scale. As companies rethink how they communicate with a distributed workforce, this project also highlights a broader shift in internal communications strategies. With hybrid work environments and global teams, businesses are looking for more dynamic ways to connect with employees beyond emails, PDFs, and static presentations. AR, combined with spatial storytelling, offers a solution that makes corporate messaging more immersive, memorable, and accessible anywhere.
As digital transformation accelerates, interactive experiences like Savannah27 will play a growing role in the future of workplace engagement, helping companies align employees with strategy in a way that feels natural and impactful.
